The top RV Service Techs in the country will compete in a winner take all competition to determine the Top Tech. The event, emcee’d by the RV Doctor, Gary Bunzer, will feature eight competitors at the start of the competition as they attempt to be the fastest to diagnose a service issue, live in front of a cheering crowd! The Opening Round will feature all eight competitors, with the top four moving on to the Championship Round. 

In addition to being named the Top Tech, the winner of the Top Tech Challenge will receive a $10,000 Grand Prize along with the Top Tech Challenge trophy! The dealership will also receive marketing materials allowing them to promote their business as featuring the Top Tech Challenge Champion.

Rapid City, South Dakota – Camping World

Started in the RV industry as a technician in 2009 and worked for MidStates Campers in Rapid City, SD, from 2009 until 2014, when they were bought out by Camping World. Prior to Don spent 20 years in the automotive industry, involved with Bandag in the tire retreading industry, and as a Gold-Star certified service adviser for Chrysler. Don has always loved tinkering with anything mechanical, from RC cars and planes to my own vehicles and all sorts of home remodeling projects. He enjoys working with customers and helping them solve problems that maybe other technicians have not been able to figure out.

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin – Greeneway RV

After moving to Central Wisconsin from California, Shawn Diamond ended up at Greeneway RV. With an extensive background in both mechanics and construction, it seemed like a perfect fit. He became Master Certified after only 5 years at Greeneway and has also helped fellow employees attain their certification by holding class sessions during the winter months.  Now at Greeneway for seven years, he is the mobile service technician as well as the “go to” guy in the shop.  Not only is he an extremely talented technician, his people and problem solving skills are second to none. Greeneway RV is proud to have Shawn Diamond on staff and doesn’t take for granted everything he brings to our business daily.

Whitney, Texas – Jason’s RV Service

Jason started in the business in 1994 at a mom and pop shop in Dallas called Metro RV and worked there for 7 years until he moved to Whitney TX. Jason worked for ANCIRA in Alvarado, TX in 2002 until 2008, but started Jason’s Mobil Service in 2006 and has been full-time since 2008. Jason enjoys RV service and loves taking care of the customer, which is as important as being a quality technician.

Joppa Alabama – D&N RV Service

D&N RV Service is a family run business that started out working on boats back in the 90’s, but found that there was a greater need for RV service in the Joppa, Alabama area. Brandon has been working in the RV industry since 2001 and received his Master Certification in 2016.

Foley, Alabama – RV’s Unlimited

Joshua started in the RV industry in 2004 at a dealership in Indiana. He took a job as a detailer and quickly realized his mechanical aptitude could be put to good use repairing RVs instead of washing them. Josh went on to obtain his RVIA and Cummins/Onan certifications and now works as a Service Manager/ Technician for a great company on the Alabama gulf coast.

Avon, New York – Wilkins RV Inc

Robert Browne was going to college for Mechanical Engineering when his parents bought a new motorhome. While on their final walkthrough, one of the technicians needed help, so he rolled up his sleeves and went to work. They quickly offered a part-time job, and once he finished school Robert full time and the rest is history!

Minden, Nevada – Nevada Mobile RV Service

John Larson got into RV work is because he enjoys the variety of jobs and challenges of RVs. John attended Denver Automotive & Diesel College and started work at Nolan’s RV Center while attending college. In 1986 he moved to Carson City, NV to work for General Motors working on RV chassis; primarily rebuilding engines. On October 1, 1989 John opened  ͞Nevada Mobile RV Service͟ and now has over 900,000 miles of experience!

Elkins, West Virginia – Roy’s RV Supercenter LLC

“Mike” has been with Roy’s RV Supercenter since 1999, where he became certified in 2007 & later became Master Certified in 2011. “Mike” has basically grown up in the RV Industry, being a brother of the owner, elbow deep in diagnosing, fixing and servicing of RV’s for over 18 years. In his spare time, he leads the pit crew for his brother’s career in dirt track racing, and enjoys spending time with his family.

 


Rules:

  • Entries are now closed
  • No purchase necessary to win.
  • Final eight selections will be notified: September 5, 2017
  • One application per dealership location.
  • Techs must certify that they are currently employed as an RV Certified Technician and have a minimum of five years of experience.
  • Applications will be scored based on each applicant’s years of experience, most recent certified test score, and certification expiration date. The eight applicants with the highest scores will be chosen as the contestants.If selected, competitors must provide their own transportation and hotel accommodations.
  • In the event of a tie for the eighth spot, the tie breaker will be determined by entry submission date.
  • If selected, competitors must provide their own transportation and hotel accommodations.
  • In the event that a selected contestant is unable to compete, the applicant with the next highest score from the selection process will be invited to attend and so on until a qualified participant is chosen.
  • The judges of the Top Tech Challenge will be highly qualified RV Industry experts in the field of the specific component.
  • In the case of a tie after the championship round, contestants will participate in a hands on run-off competition.
  • After the championship round, or run-off competition (if necessary), the winner will be announced and presented with a $10,000 check. If the winner is sponsored by their employer, the check will be split evenly between the employer and winner.
  • Taxes may apply.
  • All eight contestants will receive an official Top Tech Challenge shirt, a gift bag provided by Top Tech Challenge sponsors (details to come) and a certificate of participation.
  • A Top Tech Challenge shirt will be provided and must be worn during the Top Tech Challenge.
  • Details on each round of the Top Tech Challenge and scoring criteria will be announced on October 15th, 2017.
